Pre Owned BlackBerrys

If you are using a pre owned BlackBerry you may be required to do a full factory reset of your handset before using your
BlackBerry SIM Only service.

Please note that a factory reset will delete everything currently on your BlackBerry. Before proceeding you may wish to back
up your handset with BlackBerry's Desktop Manager.

If you do not have the software disk that came with your BlackBerry download the latest software.

Once you have backed up what you need follow these steps to proceed with a Factory Reset:

  1. Press the 'BlackBerry Button' to open the Menu
  2. Select Options
  3. Select Security Options
  4. Select General Settings
  5. Press the 'BlackBerry Button'
  6. Select Wipe Handheld
  7. Read Warning and select Continue.
  8. Enter Password 'BlackBerry'

Setup your Email

When you power on the phone for the first time a BlackBerry® Setup Wizard will appear. (If your setup wizard doesn't appear or
you want to set it up later you can access it from Menu > Setup > Setup Wizard
)

Please note if you just want to setup your email you can access this from Menu > Setup > Email Setup.

Follow the prompts to setup your language, date/time and email. There are also navigation and typing tutorials which
gives a basic guide on how to use key functions on your new BlackBerry® Curve™. You can exit this wizard and
come back to it at any time. Please note that if you are trying to set up Exchange email you may need to consult
with your I.T department.

Setting up your BlackBerry Browser

Successfully completed the 'Setup Wizard' on your BlackBerry but your BlackBerry Browser still wont connect? You may need to
register just the BlackBerry Browser to the Crazy John's network.

To register your BlackBerry Browser to the network just follow these easy steps:

  1. Press the 'BlackBerry Button' to open the Menu
  2. Select 'Options'
  3. Select 'Advanced Options'
  4. Select 'Service Book'
  5. Scroll down to the option 'WAP BrowserConfig [BrowserConfig]'
  6. Press the 'BlackBerry Button'
  7. Select 'View'
  8. Hover over the word 'Active' and press the 'BlackBerry Button'
  9. Select 'Show HRT'
  10. Press the 'BlackBerry Button'
  11. Select 'Register Now'

You should receive a notification shortly indicating that you have 'registered with the wireless network' successfully.
You should now be able to surf the net through your BlackBerry Browser!

   

Email setup tip

If you have an existing email account that you wish to use (eg. Gmail, Yahoo or home email account) select the first option "I want to create or add an email address" during the email set up.

   
   

Internet setup tip

Your internet settings should automatically be setup - for unlimited browsing of your favourite websites simply use the BlackBerry® Browser.

   

Extra Data Services

With Crazy John's your unlimited BlackBerry Email and Internet is set up and ready to go as soon as your service is activated.

In order to use specific applications and services you may be required to set up an alternate data connection. These will be charge
at the applicable data rate of your cap plan.

To set this service up please follow these quick easy steps:

  1. Press the 'BlackBerry Button' to open the Menu
  2. Select Options
  3. Advanced options
  4. TCP/IP
  5. APN settings enabled: Tick this
  6. APN: Purtona.net

BlackBerry App World

Now that you have set up your data connection why not try out BlackBerry's App World and check out over 2000 Apps that
are available to download directly to your handset. To stay up to date and download the latest top paid and free applications
currently available visit http://au.BlackBerry.com/services/applications.jsp.

Getting started
To get started open up the BlackBerry App World Icon in your Main Menu. If you don't have the option available then follow
these instructions.

Open up the 'Browser' icon in the main menu and visit the following web address from your handset http://www.BlackBerry.com/appworld/download
and follow the Download instructions provided. Once downloaded you will find the BlackBerry App World Application
in your 'Downloads' folder in the Main Menu.

Snaptu

Is a one stop application for all your news and socialising needs. Snaptu provides shortcuts to Facebook, MySpace and Flickr as well as being able to provide links to your favourite news sites such as CNN. The shortcuts are completely customisable so its easy to keep all your favourites in one spot.

Xenozu Youtube Player

Is a YouTube application that allows you to search and view your favourite YouTube clips on the run. This application streams clips through your data connection.

Want to know how to dress for the day or decide whether to go to the Footy or not? Well this handy little application can help. Get up to date Weather conditions on your BlackBerry home screen as the day goes on as well as access to the Weekly forecast.
